KUCHING, May 14: A RM77 million road upgrading project from Jalan Biawak to Kampung Kendaie in Lundu has been approved under Rolling Plan 4 of the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) and is expected to be tendered in June 2026.
Deputy Minister for Infrastructure and Port Development (Infrastructure Development) Datuk Aidel Lariwoo said the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR) is currently preparing the pre-bid documents for pre-qualified contractors.
“The project will involve upgrading the existing 11km earth and gravel road into a paved roadway with a six-metre width, in accordance with JKR R1 Standard Specifications,” he said in response to Opar assemblyman Billy Sujang during the question-and-answer session at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly Sitting today.
He added that the scope of works would also include replacing two existing bridges with concrete structures, constructing one new concrete bridge, as well as installing drainage systems, culverts, and road furniture. — DayakDaily
