PETALING JAYA:

The price of RON97 petrol will increase by 60 sen nationwide from tomorrow, while the price of diesel in West Malaysia will go up by 80 sen.

In a statement, the finance ministry said the price of RON97 will be fixed at RM3.85 per litre from RM3.25 per litre currently.

The price of diesel in West Malaysia will be fixed at RM3.92 per litre, up from RM3.12 per litre.

The price of non-subsidised RON95 will also go up by 60 sen from RM3.25 a litre currently to RM3.85 a litre.

Subsidised RON95 petrol under the BUDI95 programme will remain at RM1.99 per litre, while diesel in Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan stays at RM2.15 per litre.

These prices are effective until March 18.

The ministry said the government will also maintain the price of subsidised diesel sold to land public transport and logistics vehicles in West Malaysia at RM1.88 and RM2.15 a litre, respectively.

It will also raise the amount of cash aid for recipients of diesel subsidies under the BUDI Individu and Budi Agri-Komoditi schemes from RM200 to RM300 for March.

“Payments of the additional RM100 will be made from March 17,” it said.

The ministry said the Madani government will continue to protect Malaysians from the full impact of the global rise in oil prices following the ongoing Middle East conflict.

“The government remains committed to balancing protecting the rakyat with fiscal responsibility in managing subsidies,” it said.
