MIRI (Oct 11): Repairs works on the leaking roof at Miri Central police station are nearing completion.
Works on the RM150,000 project began on Aug 19, and is now at 90 per cent complete, according to the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) in a statement.
It said funds for the project came under the Rural Transformation Programme, and was facilitated by Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Sebastian Ting.
This followed an emergency meeting between Ting, who is Piasau assemblyman, with the Miri Public Works Department to address leaks at the 71-year-old police station.
The statement said during a recent visit to inspect the progress of the repair works, Ting expressed hope that plans for a new Miri Central police station would be included in the 13th Malaysia Plan.
“This would provide Miri with a police station equipped with modern facilities,” he was quoted saying in the statement.
