KUCHING (Oct 7): Sarawak stands as a beacon of peace, portraying as a stark contrast to persisting global conflicts, said Batu Kitang assemblyman Dato Lo Khere Chiang.

He pointed out that the state’s success in fostering peace stems from the people’s collective commitment to culture, diversity, and harmony.

“To achieve peace, we must respect one another. Every thread in the tapestry of cultures, beliefs, and perspectives that formulate our global community is essential as it contributes to a more vibrant and unified world.

“In our pursuit of peace, we must recognise that our difference are not barriers but are bridges that connect us. Embracing diversity empowers us to cultivate mutual respect and understanding,” he said.

Lo said this in his address during the ‘10th Anniversary of the September 18th Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) World Peace Summit’, held at Borneo Cultures Museum here yesterday.

During the summit, which was also held simultaneously in Kuala Lumpur, Stairway to Hope Alternation Learning Centre founder Marilou Salgatar China and Lo signed a Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), where HWPL Malaysia director Bong Yuet Ning witnessed the signing.

HWPL said that the document aims to prevent conflict, empower international judicial bodies to mediate effectively, and guarantee sustainable world peace.

“The agreement is to acknowledge and commit to world peace,” explained Lo.

He added that the summit provides a platform aimed at inspiring the younger generation to become advocates for global harmony.
