KUCHING (Sept 30): Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) Batu Lintang branch yesterday distributed 50 food aid packages to the local community under its Saberkas Prihatin 2024 programme.
The programme was carried out with the support from NK Grill Kitchen at Jalan Matang, with the food aid distribution taking place at the restaurant premises.
According to Saberkas Batu Lintang branch chairman Patrick Tan, the recipients comprised 50 families from the low-income groups, including individuals with disabilities and single mothers.
“We actively seek out to those in need especially as the year comes to a close, and this year marks the third of such activity,” Tan said, adding that the annual initiative was meant to strengthen community ties, regardless of race or religion.
“The branch has also conducted several other activities this year, including a sports carnival involving students from various schools, health programmes, and the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ to patients in the children’s and orthopedic wards of Sarawak General Hospital.
For making this programme a success, Tan extended his gratitude and appreciation to the management of NK Grill, the event’s new sponsor, as well as to other sponsors for their continuous support.
Also present was Saberkas deputy secretary general Nizam Khalyd.
