Sagah: Sri Aman to host S’wak-level M’sia Day celebration on Sept 16

KUCHING (Sept 3): The Sri Aman division will play host to the Sarawak-level Malaysia Day Celebration this Sept 16, said Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

The Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister said the celebration will be held over three days starting from Sept 14.

“There are four main events lined up for the celebration with the first being the Thanksgiving Prayers for Other Religions on Sept 14 at Sri Aman Civic Centre at 11am.

“On the same day, a ‘Cinta Malaysia, Segulai Sejalai’ Concert will take place at the Sri Aman Waterfront from 8pm onwards,” he was quoted as saying by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).

Speaking at a press conference held in conjunction with the upcoming celebration at Wisma SADA in Sri Aman today, Sagah said another thanksgiving prayer event will be held at Bandar Sri Aman Mosque on Sept 15 starting at 5.30pm.

“This will culminate with the Malaysia Day Assembly on Sept 16 at the Sri Aman Sports Complex Indoor Stadium from 10am onwards.

“Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi have agreed to grace the celebration, where among the esteemed guests include Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang as well as members of the Sarawak Cabinet,” he said.

He also said that performances will include pre-performances from Sri Aman Busker, D’Jaksa Band as well as invited cultural group Anak Seni Benak, which will highlight dances of the diverse ethnic communities of the country.

“In addition, singing acts by guest artist Hafiz Suip as well as local artists representing various ethnicities such as Ricky El, Karen Libau, Roxy Ixzy, Eddie Kuwing, Harris Mukhriz and Raquel Then Xi Ya will also enliven the celebration this year,” he said.

The Sarawak-level Malaysia Day Celebration will be broadcasted live on TVS Channel 122, Astro and MyTV, as well as on UKAS’ Facebook and YouTube channel.

Present at the press conference were Deputy International Trade, Industry and Investment Minister Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh, Sri Aman division acting resident Mahra Salleh, Sarawak Protocol, Ceremonial and Event Management Unit (UPPANS) director Hamdan Sharbini, and Ukas director Samuel Simon.
