SIBU (Oct 10): The Sarawak government has approved five projects worth a total of RM550,000 for three areas in Bawang Assan constituency under the special Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) funds.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Community Development Team leader Councillor Kevin Lau said these projects include the installation of streetlights and pontoons, as well as the construction of parking lots.

“The areas involved are Jalan Sungai Rassau, Jalan Sungai Sebedil, and Kampung Bungan Besar. Although we are not able to cover all the areas, we will try to cover as many as possible so that the people can benefit from this,” he said.

Lau said this during his visit to Rumah Thomas Palus in Sungai Sebedil, Batang Igan in Matu yesterday, where he conducted a survey on the parking lot project worth RM200,000.

He said the SUPP Bawang Assan Community Development Team was established about two years ago to resolve problems faced by the community.

“We have worked hard to come up with a proposal for our party president Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian. Through his support, the proposal was submitted to the Premier, who then approved the project.

“I would also like to thank Political Secretary to the Premier, Romeo Christopher Tegong, for his close cooperation with us on the ground.

“Together, we can further enhance unity within our community,” Lau said.

Additionally, he hoped the approved projects would be implemented soon in order to bring convenience to the people.
