KUCHING (Oct 13): A state banquet to commemorate the 78th birthday of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar took place at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) Complex Banquet Hall here last night.
The Head of State arrived for the celebration while accompanied by his wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, according to a report by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas).
Also gracing the event were Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datin Patinggi Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.

To mark the special occasion, a special video entitled ‘Dari Rimba Ke Astana’ was screened. The video presentation highlighted Wan Junaidi’s journey prior to his appointment as the eighth Sarawak governor.
The birthday celebration was further enlivened by performances from local artistes including Herman Tino, Dayang Nurfaizah, Bob Yusuf, Gab, Mel Imran, Firdaus Materang, Claudia, as well as a special appearance by Bunga Citra Lestari.

Also present were Deputy Prime Minister Dato Sri Fadillah Yusof; Deputy Premiers of Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, and Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian; Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, who is also the minister-in-charge of the celebration; State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Sarawak Cabinet ministers and deputy ministers; and other distinguished guests.
