KUCHING: Sarawak’s tenpin bowling team continues to shine at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA), with the women’s doubles securing another stunning gold medal on August 16.
The dynamic duo of Nur Hazirah Ramli and Lavinia Jia Jie Kho delivered a powerful performance, combining their scores of 1,216 and 1,176 points, respectively, to achieve an unassailable total of 2,392 points.
Their remarkable synergy on the lanes left their competitors trailing, affirming their dominance in the doubles category.
Despite strong efforts from other states, Selangor settled for silver with a total of 2,271 points, while Johor clinched the bronze with 2,183 points.
In the men’s doubles event, Sarawak faced tough competition and was outpaced by Perak, which captured the gold with a commanding score of 2,479 points.
Melaka followed closely to claim the silver with 2,459 points, and Penang secured the bronze with 2,389 points.
The latest triumph by the women’s team not only adds to Sarawak’s growing medal tally but also solidifies their standing at the top of the overall leaderboard in SUKMA 2024.
The medals were presented to the winners by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, alongside Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, who also serves as the chef-de-mission for the Sarawak contingent.
