KUCHING, 4 Oct: The Government of Sarawak will continue to expand its digital trading and platform network to help local micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) penetrate international markets.

Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that dependency on the local market alone is not enough, so facilities such as One Stop Collection Centre (OSCC) and Sarawak overseas trading offices should be used as a marketing platform.

"We cannot rely on the local market alone. That's why it's so important to us.embracetechnology and digital platforms so we can penetrate a larger market.

"We are the body of the Sarawak Office of Trade and Tourism (STATO) in Singapore, in Brunei and God willing we will be the body at Pontianak. We have also proposed to set up a similar office in Abu Dhabi for the Middle Eastern market", he said.

He said this while addressing the completion ceremony of Micro Excellence Entrepreneur Awards 2026 at MetroCity Event Centre (MCEC), here, today.

According to Awang Tengah, OSCC, entrepreneurial hubs as well as government-developed business facilities also play a role in strengthening the network and helping local products be marketed through STATO overseas.

"It's important that we improve the quality of our products and services. The international market is willing to pay more as long as our products are of high quality and meet the required standards", he said.
