KUCHING (Dec 16): The Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) Project has reached another major milestone with Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd awarding an RM58 million contract to Linde EOX Sdn Bhd for the relocation and upgrading of Sarawak Energy Bhd’s hydrogen production plant and refuelling station.
Sarawak Metro said in a statement that the hydrogen plant will be relocated from Bintawa to the Autonomous Rapid Transit (ART) Depot in Rembus, Kota Samarahan, as part of Phase 1 of the hydrogen production strategy for the KUTS project.
Once fully upgraded, the plant will be able to produce approximately one tonne of green hydrogen.
The upgraded facility is scheduled for completion in time for the start of KUTS operations in the fourth quarter of 2026, marking a significant step towards green, sustainable public transport in Sarawak.
The signed Letter of Acceptance (LOA) was received by Sarawak Metro chief executive officer Mazli Mustaffa from Linde EOX managing director Hoo Peih Yoke at Sarawak Metro’s corporate office.
On hand to witness the handing over of the signed LOA were Ministry of Transport permanent secretary Datu Wong Hee Sieng and State Financial Secretary’s Office representative Mohamad Kamil Asyraf Mohamad Samuri.
