KUCHING (Aug 30): Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) has continued its Road Safety Awareness Campaign to promote safer road habits among road users, particularly along its Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project alignment.
The latest campaign was held along the Red Line alignment at Jalan Lapangan Terbang, where construction work has started, the company said in a press release today.
The campaign was organised in collaboration with the Red Line contractor SJCJV – a joint venture between Sri Datai Construction (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd, JT JV Builders Sdn Bhd, and CHEC Construction (M) Sdn Bhd.
It was also supported by the Royal Malaysia Police, Road Transport Department, Public Works Department Kuching, Kuching South City Council, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, Department of Occupational Safety and Health Sarawak, and the office of the Federal Secretary, Sarawak.
The campaign aimed to raise public awareness of road safety during the construction of the KUTS project, focusing on promoting safer practices among motorists, pedestrians, and construction workers involved in the project.
Sarawak Metro chief executive officer Mazli Mustaffa said their top priority is to ensure the safety of all road users, especially as construction work progresses.
“We all have a role to play in ensuring road safety, and it is essential for everyone to adhere to traffic rules, signage, and instructions, particularly near construction sites,” he said.
He extended his gratitude to SJCJV for its support and commitment to the campaign.
As part of the campaign, road users received goodie bags containing safety vests and safety pamphlets, reinforcing the importance of adhering to road safety guidelines to avoid any untoward incidents.
