KUCHING: Despite putting up a tough fight, Brayden Huang Chuan Yuan, 19, was not able to win the bronze medal in the Men’s Standing Single 11, Para Table Tennis at the 21st Malaysia Para Games (Para Sukma XXI) 2024.
Held at SJK Chung Hua No. 3 today (Sept 26), Brayden first scored the first round with 12-10 against Selangor’s Muhammad Faiz Abdul Ahmad.
In the second to fourth round, he somehow could not keep up with the momentum, leaving him to only settle for fourth place.
Speaking to reporters after the match, coach Ting Kung Yew said that luck was not on their side, noting that Brayden had tried his best.
“This is his first participation in the Para Sukma, and he has been training for over a year now.
“Regardless, he has been working hard and he has the potential to go far,” he said.
Ting added that Brayden will continue to represent Sarawak for future tournaments.
“He is from Sibu, he is going to finish his studies (special education) at SMK Sungai Merah, Sibu.
“We will keep on exposing him to future tournaments so that he can improve himself further,” Ting added.
