LAWAS, Sept 17: Efforts are underway to connect Limbang and Lawas to the electricity grid as new airport and port developments in the area are set to commence by the end of this year.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan emphasised the Sarawak government’s commitment to ensuring that development benefits all areas, including urban, suburban and rural regions, extending to the northern region of Limbang and Lawas.
“Efforts are being made to advance the Northern Coastal Highway.
“The first phase of the Sarawak Link Road has already been completed, and work is progressing towards the Indonesia border,” he said in a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
Awang Tengah made these remarks during the Mooncake Festival 2024, organised by Lawas Chinese Cultural Association held at Lawas Arena on Sunday (Sept 15).
At the event’s conclusion, he announced a contribution of RM50,000, with Lawas MP Dato Henry Sum Agong adding RM10,000 to support the Association’s activities.
