The Sarawak government is set to acquire LTAT shares in Affin Bank.

KUCHING, Sept 23: Sarawak is expected to formalise its acquisition of Affin Bank Bhd this Friday (Sept 27).

A news report from The Edge Malaysia (TEM) today said that Sarawak will sign a sale and purchase (S&P) agreement with Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT) and Boustead Holding Bhd in Kuching.

According to the report, Sarawak will be acquiring Boustead’s 20 per cent stake in Affin Bank, as well as part of LTAT’s.

The acquisition of both stakes will enable Sarawak to become the largest shareholder, with a stake of about 30 per cent.

On Sept 21, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg hinted that he would make a formal announcement on the Sarawak government’s acquisition of Affin Bank this week. — DayakDaily
