SIBU (Oct 9): Sarawak collected 66 gold, 83 silver and 90 bronze medals to emerge overall champion in the 29th National Tang Soo Do Championships which ended here last weekend.
Perak (33-22-14) and Selangor (17-11-5) finished second and third.
This year’s national tournament, which was organised by Tang Soo Do Muk Kwan (TSDMDK) Sibu, attracted 325 exponents from throughout the country.
At the end of the event TSDMDK chief Teng Tiong Kee said it “brings lots of significance” and hoped the sport would be able to attract more younger athletes.
He commended the people’s elected representatives for their financial and moral support which “will go a long way to help popularize the sport.”
Prizes were given away by Irene Wong who represented Sibu MP Oscar Ling.
