THE state is poised to enter a new phase with the inauguration of a new Head of State on Monday, January 29, 2024. This ceremony signifies the beginning of a fresh era in governance and holds great significance in the state’s history.
The incoming governor, who will be the eighth in Sarawak, has been officially approved by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, as confirmed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
The new governor will replace Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
Although there hasn’t been an official statement confirming the candidate, one name stands out prominently: the former Senate president Tan Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.
This is hardly surprising, given his extensive background in politics and public service.
