KUCHING, Sept 26: Sarawakian swimmer Fraidden Dawan has made an impressive splash by winning six gold medals at the 2024 Para Malaysia Games (Para Sukma).
Out of these, four were earned in individual events, while two were secured in team categories.
Speaking to reporters at the Pandalela Rinong Aquatic Center, Fraidden expressed his satisfaction with his achievements, even though they fell short of his personal record of 10 gold medals at the 2014 Para Sukma.
“Initially, I only targeted four gold medals in the individual category. However, winning an additional two gold medals in the team events is a bonus for me,” Fraidden said.
The 38-year-old athlete also shared his intention to continue representing Sarawak in future Para Sukma games if given the opportunity. Despite his age, Fraidden still meets the eligibility criteria to compete in the next Para Sukma.
“However, I will no longer be representing the national team. I have been part of the national team for 14 years,” he added.
Fraidden’s remarkable performance highlights his enduring dedication and talent in swimming, bringing pride to Sarawak once again. — DayakDaily
