KUCHING (March 3): A total of 80 asnaf (those eligible to receive tithes) and underprivileged received assistance in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan.
Deputy Minister of Utility (Sarawak Energy and Petros) Datuk Ibrahim Baki handed out the contributions comprising food baskets and cash.
“This contribution is aimed at easing the burden of the underprivileged, and helping to cover some of the expenses for the coming Syawal,” he told reporters after the presentation ceremony at the Satok Sports Complex here yesterday.
The Satok assemblyman also saw the distribution of ‘bubur lambuk’ contibuted by the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board to the aid recipients.
The programme was organised by KelabSukan dan Komuniti Satok and the Satok Service Centre.
The recipients comprised villagers from Kampung Bandarsah, Kampung Bintangor, Kampung No. 3, Kampung No. 4, Kampung No. 5, Kampung No. 6, Kampung Segedup, Kampung Sungai Maong, Kudei Baru, Kudei Dungun, Kudei Iban, Kudei Lama, Kampung Masjid, Kampung Muda Hashim A, Kampung Muda Hashim B and Kampung Muhibbah
