BAU, Feb 2: The tender for the construction of the Immigration, Customs, Quarantine, and Security (ICQS) complex in Serikin, Bau, has been awarded.

Tasik Biru assemblyman Dato Henry Harry Jinep said the tender was awarded in mid-December 2025 and that the contractor has since begun site-clearing works.

“The contractor has visited the project site and has now started work on site clearing,” he told reporters last night during the Chinese New Year decorative light-up ceremony in Bau town on Sunday (Feb 1).

According to Henry, who is also the Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Maritime), the project is expected to be completed in 2028 and will transform Bau into a vibrant new business hub.

He added that the ICQS development would be accompanied by related infrastructure projects, including improved road connectivity and upgraded water supply.

“While the contractor is working on the ICQS complex, we are also addressing issues related to water supply and road connectivity.

“Our water supply project to Jagoi is ongoing. Leakages in certain areas have been identified and repaired, and efforts are continuing to trace leaks caused by ageing pipes,” he said.

On road connectivity, Henry said the matter was being given serious attention.

“For road access to the ICQS, we are studying it carefully because we do not want the road to encroach on existing villages and cause traffic congestion. A bypass road is needed,” he explained. — DayakDaily
