MIRI, Oct 29: Vehicle owners with unpaid parking fines now face the risk of bad credit scores, as these infractions will be registered with the Credit Tip Off Service (CTOS) system.
Miri City Council (MCC) Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang emphasised that this initiative targets individuals who have accrued substantial unpaid parking fines.
“Our aim is to hold them accountable and encourage timely payment,” he stated in a news report by the New Sarawak Tribune on Monday (Oct 28).
This action aligns with MCC’s commitment to efficient parking management, as mandated by the Road Transport (Provision of Parking Places) (Miri City Council) (Amendment) Order, 2006.
“By leveraging the CTOS credit reporting system, we aim to deter repeat non-compliance and enhance parking administration throughout the city,” he added.
MCC strongly urges vehicle owners to promptly settle any outstanding parking fines to avoid CTOS registration and the potential consequences for their credit ratings. — DayakDaily
