Sibu hail 12 gold medallists in Tang Soo Do Championships

SIBU (Oct 16): Sibu Tang Soo Do Muk Duk Kwan (TSDMDK) Association has commended its exponents for an encouraging performance at the recent 29th National Tang Soo Do Championships held at SMK Sacred Heart here.

Their 30 athletes contributed 13 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals of the 66-83-90 haul which enabled Sarawak to lift the overall title in the championship.

Ida Tang Yi En was the toast of Sibu team with two gold medals. The 11 other gold medals were obtained by Lee Ee Hui, Darrel Thum, Ian Kan, Leanne Kan, Ngu Chu Siong, Eileen Soo Ming Lee, Carson Soo Ming Liang, Brandon Wong, Lai Neng Jie, Wong Hua Ching and Nicholas Emmanuel Ujek.

TSDMDK Sibu president Teng Tiong Kee, speaking at the closing, revealed that the national tournament attracted most of the top exponents from throughout the country among the 325 participants.

“It was a valuable opportunity for the participants to gain exposure and experience and, hopefully, the local exponents have benefited from the championships,” he added.

He thanked the instructors and sponsors for their moral and financial support. SMK Sacred Heart principal David Teo was singled out for providing the venue to stage the event.
