GEDONG: A total of 100 students from SK Lubok Punggor received school supplies to meet their educational needs.
The donations, provided by the Sarawak branch of the Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM), were handed over by Batang Sadong MP and SKM board member Rodiyah Sapiee.
According to Rodiyah, the initiative is part of SKM’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, aligned with the cooperative’s seventh principle of “community concern.”
“The donation underscores the cooperative’s commitment to improving community welfare while enhancing SKM’s corporate image as a Federal Statutory Body.
“Additionally, this programme directly benefits the local community by supporting student needs and showcases SKM’s dedication to fostering both economic and social growth in this region,” she said.
Rodiyah made these remarks during the Cooperative Care Programme with the Community and Students, held at SK Lubok Punggor on Thursday (Sept 26).
She also commended the teamwork and support demonstrated by parents and teachers during the event’s communal activities.
“I believe that strong collaboration like this will help programmes like these serve as a platform to strengthen connections between cooperatives and the community.
“I also hope to see more cooperatives established in other areas for the collective benefit and growth of local communities,” she added.
During the same event, Rodiyah also announced a donation of RM5,000 to SK Lubok Punggor through the Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG) to further support the school’s resource centre.
