KUCHING (Sept 29): Two major development projects are set to be implemented in the Balai Ringin as part of the ongoing efforts to enhance the area’s infrastructure, said Datuk Snowdan Lawan.
The Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts Deputy Minister was cited in a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) as saying that the first project will focus on upgrading the town of Balai Ringin.
“The Balai Ringin town, located within the sub-district, will undergo significant upgrades, including the installation of various facilities. This project has already been approved at a cost of RM55 million,” he stated during the opening of Pesta Pantu 2024 at Dewan Sri Pantu in Balai Ringin yesterday.
Snowdan, who is Balai Ringin assemblyman, said the second project involves constructing a new community hall in Pantu, named ‘Panggau Pantu’, which will be equipped with modern amenities, including a spacious stage and open square.
He added that the hall, expected to be completed by the end of 2025, will serve as a venue for various events, including future editions of Pesta Pantu.
He also provided an update on the Balai Ringin mini-stadium, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
“I have instructed the Sarawak Sports Corporation to position the stadium as a centre for talent development, aiming to groom athletes for the Malaysia Games (Sukma),” he added.
