State-level National Day: Over 10,000 join Fun Walk in Sibu

SIBU (Aug 31): More than 10,000 participants took part in the Fun Walk event today to mark the Sarawak state-level National Day celebration at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang here.

Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi jointly flagged-off the walk at 7am.

Also joining was Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk John Sikie Tayai, who is also the minister in charge of the state-level National Day celebration.

Taking part in the 2.4 kilometer walk were school students, civil servants and representatives from the private sector.

Earlier, the atmosphere at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang was enlivened with aerobics activities and the waving of the Jalur Gemilang and the flag of the Motherland.

Also present were the Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah; Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Michael Tiang; and Sibu Resident Abang Mohamad Porkan Abang Budiman.
