KUCHING: The Sarawak State Secretariat Contingent who is participating in the National State Secretariat Sports Carnival (SUKSEM) 2024 recently received a new carrom board and other equipment as part of their preparations for the upcoming carnival in Kuala Terengganu.
Sarawak Deputy Secretary for Administration and chef de mission of the state contingent, Datuk Buckland Bangik handed over the carom board and equipment during a brief symbolic ceremony held at his office in Wisma Bapa Malaysia on Tuesday (Sept 17).
The handover was part of the team’s preparations for the 9th SUKSEM 2024, scheduled to take place from Oct 14 to 20 in Kuala Terengganu.
Meanwhile, Sarawak SUKSEM Carrom team manager Nazrie Sulaiman expressed confidence that the early availability of the carrom board and other facilities would help Sarawak’s players adapt to the equipment, thus easing their training process.
“This will allow the players to familiarise themselves with the equipment that will be used in Terengganu and ensure smoother training sessions,” he said.
Nazrie also commended the commitment and dedication of players and coaches for their strong cooperation throughout the preparation phase.
“We are optimistic about achieving our mission, thanks to the comprehensive preparations we’ve undertaken.
“The next few weeks of training will produce positive results, providing exposure and motivation as we head towards the tournament,” he added.
Nazrie hoped that the Sarawak contingent would make a notable impact in Kuala Terengganu next month.
