KUCHING, Aug 16: Sarawak’s taekwondo squad has secured two gold medals for the recognised poomsae event at the 21s Malaysian Games (Sukma) today.
The first gold was clinched by the women’s team comprising Farah Nabilla, Siti Yusriyyah and Willimien Lai Lini, with a total score of 7.70 points.
The silver medal went to Johor’s team with 7.54 points, followed by Penang’s team clinching bronze with 7.29 points.
Meanwhile, Sarawak’s second gold in taekwondo was contributed by the men’s team comprising Fedealis Kom Twin, Mohd Isshahril Mazlan and Randy Owen Augustine Linggi.
The team scored a total of 8.02 points, beating Federal Territories team to secure silver with 7.65 points and Kelantan team with 7.35 points, for bronze.
Taekwondo, a Korean martial art and combat sport involving punching and kicking techniques, offers 25 gold medals in Sukma 2024.
With the victory, Sarawak ranks in first place in Sukma 2024 as the medal tally stands at 6 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze as of press time. — DayakDaily
