KUCHING: The official song of SUKMA and Para SUKMA XXI Sarawak 2024, titled SUKMA Sarawak Kesukanan Dalam Perpaduan, has garnered praise from Federal Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh.
Yeoh shared that the song, composed by Awang Kaderi Awang Lihi, had grown on her throughout the games.
“There is one thing I would like to highlight from SUKMA and Para SUKMA is the official song. I really like that song,” During her address at the Para SUKMA 2024 closing ceremony last night (Sept 28).
She also lauded the composer for the catchy tune and meaningful lyrics.
Additionally, Yeoh extended her gratitude to everyone involved in making Para SUKMA 2024 a success, particularly the volunteers who contributed tirelessly.
“For every Para SUKMA, there are athletes competing for the first time, some who need to improve their efforts to represent Malaysia at the Paralympics, and others who may retire afterward.
“Regardless of the athletes’ outcomes, I want to inform you that the government, both federal and state, will continue to support you,” she added.
Yeoh said investing in sports will also reap long-term benefits.
“Congratulations to Sarawak for being the champion this time, followed by Sabah and Johor. For the states that did not succeed or have not yet succeeded, it may be due to a smaller population, such as Labuan.
“Even though Labuan has a small population, I would still like to congratulate them for winning three gold medals,” she said.
