MIRI (Aug 16): Miri MP Chiew Choon Man is thrilled to see the positive impact that the Malaysia Games (Sukma) has brought to the local economy.
According to him, the influx of athletes, officials and visitors to Miri will provide further substantial boost to local businesses.
“This prestigious event not only brings the nation’s best athletes to our city, but also offers significant economic benefits that can stimulate growth and development in various sectors.
“Our hotels are seeing increased occupancy rates, and our restaurants and retail stores are experiencing higher foot traffic and sales.
“This surge in business activity welcomes the opportunity for our local entrepreneurs and small business owners to recover and grow in the post-pandemic economy,” he said when visiting the Sukma Miri Media Centre today.
On hand to welcome him at the centre were Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) Miri Division officer Dayang Norazelina Hamdan and the media centre director Rosmaini Mail.
Adding on, Chiew said with visitors coming from all over Malaysia, the Games would offer a unique opportunity to showcase Miri’s natural beauty, cultural heritage and tourist attractions to a broader audience.
“This exposure can further boost tourism as visitors share their positive experiences with others, encouraging them to visit our city,” he added.
