KUCHING: The 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) Sarawak 2024 Photography and Videography Competition aimed not only to enhance the festive atmosphere of the Games but also to uncover local talent in photography and videography, especially among the youth.
Deputy State Secretary (Operations) and CEO of Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024, Datuk Hii Chang Kee said that the competition was a great success, attracting 1,078 entries in the photography category and 59 entries in videography.
“The competition was organized to celebrate Sukma held from Aug 17 to 24, received an overwhelming response.
“The contest ran from Aug 12 to 24, and participants has submitted their entries in three categories: Open, Youth, and Videography.
“Winners were selected by professional judges to ensure that only the highest quality work was recognised,” he said during a press conference for the Sukma XXI Sarawak 2024 Photography and Videography Competition Prize Presentation ceremony held here today (Sept 27).
He also said that the winning photos and entries will be included in the Sukma 2024 ‘Coffee Table Book’ which will be published by the Sukma secretariat.
The winners in the Open Photography Category were Ahmad Izzrafiq Alias who secured first place with a prize of RM3,000, followed by Mohmad Nahari Naha in second place, receiving RM2,000, and Juna Medan in third place, awarded RM1,000.
Five consolation prizes of RM200 each were awarded to Alfian, Ghazali Bujang, Mikail, Kwong Yew, and Kho Chee Hui.
In the Youth Photography Category, the top prize of RM2,000 went to Haziq Aqil, while Gregory Tan Wei and Azizan took second and third places, earning RM1,000 and RM750 respectively.
Five additional participants, including Theodore Lee, Muhd Nur Iqwan, Alexander Brian Nyawai Ngian, Haikal Nazhan, and Muhammad Aziem Danish, received consolation prizes of RM100 each.
For the Videography Category, Sylvester Alex Wong won the top prize of RM2,000, with Yunus Yussop and Mohd Faisal Ahmad securing the second and third spots, winning RM1,000 and RM750 respectively.
Five consolation prizes of RM100 were awarded to Majid, Abdul Wafi Nasip, Ain Farzana Ramli, Ismail Roslan, and Muhammad Asyraf Halim.
Hii expressed his congratulations to all the winners and praised their talent, adding that the event not only celebrated sports but also the creative abilities of Sarawak’s people.
