Sukma: Wushu’s Stephanie Ngu wins second gold medal for Sarawak

KUCHING (Aug 15): Stephanie Ngu Chai Ern became Sarawak’s first double-gold medalist in Sukma XXI Sarawak today when she won the women’s jianshu with the highest score of 9.610 points.

More outstandingly, she repeated the feat by beating two national athletes to second and third place in the event contested by 13 athletes.

Kelly Chin Sy Jie of Melaka won the silver with 9.603 points while Lee Cheng Wei of Federal Territories took the bronze with a score of 9.566 points.

Stephanie revealed that this was a surprise gold for her as she had targeted two golds, the women’s changquan she won yesterday and the women’s qiangshu that will be competed tomorrow.
