KUCHING (March 4): Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) members must place their full trust in the wisdom and judgement of party leadership and the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) ruling coalition, said SUPP Pending vice chairman Dato Wee Hong Seng.
“These decisions deserve our utmost respect. Once a decision has been made, it is crucial that all of us stand united and give our unwavering support to the chosen candidate, because unity and service to the people must come before personal interests.
“As for who will be chosen as candidates, we must place our trust in the wisdom of our party leadership. As party members, we are guided by collective responsibility and a shared commitment to serve the community. I believe this clearly reflects our position as a party—disciplined, united, and focused on delivering for the people,” he said when responding to a media query on SUPP state election candidacy.
Wee also expressed confidence that the spirit of service and healthy political aspiration within SUPP remains strong.
“If I want to speak on behalf of SUPP, many of us share the same desire to serve under the party’s banner. We have pledged our loyalty to our party and coalition, and it is only natural that members have the aspiration to do more for the people.
“I would be more concerned if our leaders and members no longer have the spirit to contest or contribute. A party without enthusiasm to serve would be worrying. The willingness to step forward is something that should be respected,” he said.
He said SUPP and GPS were fortunate to have many capable and passionate leaders prepared to shoulder responsibility.
“Getting to a higher is not about a job or duty. It is a responsibility. This gives the party strength and allows the leadership to carefully consider all factors before deciding on the right candidate,” he said.
Earlier, Wee represented Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian in officiating the Tay Motors Kota Sentosa branch’s Chap Goh Mei celebration. Also present were Padawan Municipal Council chairman Tan Kai and Tay Motors owner Aaron Tay.
