The southern part of Belipat Village will be the centre of community activity

LAWAS, Oct. 8: The construction of Sura Kampung Belipat on Punang Road here is now well underway and is expected to accommodate about 300 congregations at a time.

Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said that the project is also equipped with various facilities to support worship and community activities of local people.

According to him, the first phase of construction involving a prayer hall and south kitchen is now showing tremendous progress.

"This can accommodate about 300 congregations at a time. It is equipped with various facilities including cooking areas and for the next phase is to supplement the facility according to these southern needs", he said.

He said this when he was contacted by the media after visiting the construction project Surau Kampung Belipat on Jalan Punang here today.

Awang Tengah hopes that the southern part of the country will not only be a place of pilgrimage, but also a centre for various religious and social activities that can foster cooperation and unity.

"I hope that this south will be a center not only for our pilgrimage, but various activities can be carried out so that it becomes a centre of enhancing community cooperation and harmony as well as improving the welfare of society", he said.

He also requested that the project be completed according to schedule.

After reviewing the southern project, Awang Central also reviewed work on upgrading of Kampung Belipat gasing arena, Punang Road. -TVS
