Talk on wildlife camera trapping on Aug 22

KUCHING: A talk will be held here on exploring the hidden world of rainforest animals through the lens of camera traps.

The talk titled “Camera Trapping: Revealing the Hidden Secrets of the Rainforest” will be given by biologist and photographer Chien C. Lee.

The Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) event will be held in the Seminar Room, Integrated Biodiversity Research Building (IBRB), Sarawak Biodiversity Centre and streamed via Zoom for remote participation on Aug 22 at 10am.

Chien has spent over two decades mastering the art and science of camera trapping across Southeast Asia, mainly in Borneo.

He began his career started as an environmental educator in California before moving to Borneo in 1996, due to his deep fascination with its rainforest.

Since 2003, he has been a professional photographer and wildlife tour conductor, spending at least nine months each year in the field.

As an honorary research fellow at the Institute of Biodiversity and Environmental Conservation at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak, his work has led to the first-ever photographs of numerous rare and endangered species.

He uses photography to promote a deeper understanding and appreciation of nature, aiming to inspire conservation efforts.
