KUCHING (Dec 13): At just 11-years-old, Sarawak’s young music talent Taylor Louise has made history as the only Sarawakian Malaysian to perform at the Studio Opéra Bastille in Paris, where she also received two international awards on Dec 12.

Taylor is the first Sarawakian to receive the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize at the Paris International Music Competition – Grand Prize Virtuoso. She also won First Prize in the Pop Category (ages 10–12), marking a remarkable double achievement at the international competition.

The award ceremony and performance were held at the Studio Opéra Bastille, a renowned venue for emerging international artists.

During her performance, Taylor delivered “From The Start” by Icelandic-Chinese jazz-pop artist Laufey, showcasing her vocal versatility and musical sensitivity.

Following last night’s performance, Taylor received warm praise from organisers and audience members alike, with many in attendance describing her as one of the audience favourites of the evening for her confident stage presence and heartfelt delivery.

Her invitation to perform in Paris followed her outstanding results at the competition, where she stood out among participants from various countries for her artistry and promise at a young age.

Speaking after the event, Taylor expressed gratitude to her family, teachers and supporters back home.

“I am very thankful for all the support I have received. It is an honour to represent Sarawak and Malaysia,” she said.
