KUCHING, Aug 17: The incentives for Sarawakian teams that won gold in the Malaysia Games (Sukma) 2024 have yet to be sorted out, says Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED).

He said this following Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s announcement of cash incentives of up to RM15,000 for Sarawakian medallists yesterday (August 16).

“Most important is the maximum value (of the incentive), which is capped at RM15,000. But regarding how the incentives are differentiated, we (the ministry) will have it sorted out later,” said Abdul Karim when met with reporters after officiating the Sukma Carnival 2024 at the Celebration Square, Petra Jaya today.

He added that the incentives might be sorted out before the end of Sukma as it is one of the things that makes the athletes proud.

Abdul Karim also added that the Para Sukma 2024 medallists will also receive the same incentives. — DayakDaily
