LAWAS, 7 Oct: Sarawak Government approves village enlargement project involving four villages across the river in small district Sundar to be phased out.

Deputy Prime Minister of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the project involves Kampung Aru, Kampung Sinampuan, Kampung Sebelah and Kampung Tanjung Katong.

According to him, the project was modified according to the location of each village to give space for people involved in small enterprises in their respective areas.

"We are expanding this village by giving lots to the residents to build houses in addition to fostering more systematic housing with facilities.

"The same project we are carrying out in Trusan through the Land and Survey Department in cooperation with the Agency of Land Development and Protection Board (LCDA) involves 15 houses", he said during a work visit to Surau Nurul Rahman in Kampung Sinampuan today.

He added that the village enlargement project is conceived of providing basic facilities and groundbreaking work to make it easier for people to build their own houses.

"The project is expected to open up more opportunities and areas of economic activity for the people involved with the help of other government agencies", he added.

At the ceremony, Awang Tengah also heard the views of residents about suitable location for implementation of village enlargement projects in their area. -TVS
