BINTULU (Aug 16): Samalaju Industrial Park (SIP) factories have been reminded to always prioritise safety aspects to reduce the risk of explosions and fire incidents.
In giving the reminder, Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, who is also Bintulu MP, also expressed his regret over the explosion and fire at the bottom reactor tanks of an SIP plant on Wednesday.
The incident injured 10 victims, four of whom suffered burns.
“I am issuing a stern warning to all companies and industrial factories in SIP to always emphasise high safety standards to prevent such incidents.
“This will cause not only injuries or fatalities but also involve environmental issues due to the explosions,” he said in a statement.
Tiong said such incidents could be avoided by practising strict safety measures.
As he is currently on a working visit abroad, he added his service centre staff in Bintulu will expedite the response process.
