SIBU (Sept 25): A total of 83 teams will compete in the final round of Second Smart Innovation Competition (SIC) 2024, to be held at University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) here this weekend (Sept 27-28).
The finalists are mostly from Peninsular Malaysia, with some from Yogyakarta and West Kalimantan provinces of Indonesia, said director Charlly Simon during a press conference here yesterday.
“The final round will see the participants exhibiting and competing with either a product or an innovation concept that has been selected,” he added.
Themed ‘Towards Sustainable Development Goals’, SIC 2024 is divided into ‘Junior Innovator’; ‘Young Innovator’; ‘Senior Innovator for Social Science or Science Tertiary Students’; and ‘Professional Innovator for Professionals’, including researchers, ministries, agency officials and teachers.
Charlly added that the winners for each category would bring home trophies, certificates and cash prizes, totalling RM21,800.
He also invited the public to attend SIC 2024 as there would be many programmes taking place, including exhibitions on innovation and technology, as well as activities by government departments and agencies.
“Sibu Vocational College, Microwave Event and Persatuan Penggiat Filem Sibu will also be setting up trading stalls,” he added.
