KUCHING, Oct. 6: Two men were injured after a pickup truck they boarded escaped before breaking into a tree near Gold Coin, Bintawa, this evening.
In the incident at around 5 p.m., a victim who was a front passenger suffered injuries to his face and was still in the vehicle when the bombers arrived.
The driver managed to get out of the vehicle on his own and sustained injuries including a broken left leg.
According to the Operations Movement Centre (PGO) of the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Sarawak, Tabuan Jaya Bombing and Rescue Police (BBP) received an emergency call at 5.01 pm.
"Operations arrived on the scene at 5:16 p.m. and found a self-inflicted accident involving a Toyota Hilux that broke into trees.
"The bombers helped lift the victims to the Malaysian Ministry of Health (MoH) ambulance for treatment", the statement said.
Both victims were later handed over to the KKM for further action.
The operation was controlled at 5:30 p.m. and fully terminated at 6:04 p.m. after conditions on the site were found to be safe.
