Two-story unoccupied house burned down in Pujut

MIRI, Oct. 6: An unoccupied two-story house on the 8th floor here burned down in an incident last night.

According to a statement from the Centre for Operational Motions (PGO) of the Malaysian Department of Bombing and Rescue (JBPM) Sarawak, it received an emergency call regarding the incident at 11.44 pm before the team from Lopeng Bombing and Rescue Hall (BBP) arrived on site at 11.57 pm.

"On arrival at the scene, the team found that the fire involved an uninhabited two-story permanent structure, estimated to be 30 feet by 30 feet.

"Fires destroyed about 70 percent of the structure", according to the statement.

The Operations Output Team (PKO) then conducted the extinguishing operation using a 300-foot channel flow with two nozzles and an auxiliary channel flow starting.

Water sources were obtained from nearby pump kilns and the fire was successfully contained before being completely extinguished.

The team also conducted a search to make sure there was no cause of fire before the location was confirmed safe.

The operation led by PBK I Ladi Eni ended at 1.09 am, with a force of nine members as well as an FRT engine and an EMRS.

The Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) were also on site to assist with related matters.

The cause of the fire and total damage are still under investigation.
