MUKAH, Oct. 6: A 34-year-old local man was arrested by police on suspicion of drug trafficking off Kubu Road, Muqah, yesterday.
Director General of Police, DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the suspect was detained by a team of members of the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, Regional Police Headquarters (IPD) of Mukah at about 8 am after being seen in suspicious condition.
"The investigation of the suspect found no wrongdoing before he was taken to IPD Oudh for further investigation.
"An initial urine filtration test found the suspect positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine", he said in a statement today.
According to him, an initial investigation found the suspect had been involved in drug abuse since October 2025.
"A case is being investigated under Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for misuse of drugs.
"The suspect who worked as a labourer is currently being held in the lobby of the Mukah Police Headquarters to assist with the investigation until the investigation process is completed", he said.
Mohammad Rizal said his party remained committed to curbing drug abuse and distribution activities in the district.
