KUCHING (Oct 7): The Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohamad Sanusi came to pay their last respects to the late Puan Sri Datin Sri Elizabeth Pawa on Monday morning.

Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who is the son-in-law to the late Pawa, expressed his deepest appreciation to both Wan Junaidi and wife for the visit to his mother-in-law’s residence at Tabuan Jaya Tengah at around 11.30am.

He said during the visit, Wan Junaidi shared many stories and past memories of his late mother-in-law and also late father-in-law, Tan Sri Celestine Ujang, a former Sarawak cabinet minister and Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.

“My wife Datin Sri Angelina Ujang and I, and all family members greatly appreciate the memory and willingness of Tun Pehin Sri and his wife to visit us and give words of encouragement for us to deal with the sadness of this loss,” said Nanta on his Facebook page.

Nanta said both Wan Junaidi and wife also spent some time to visit late Pawa’s mother Piah Kalok, 97, who also lives in the same residence and suffers from old age.

Also present were Layar assemblyman and Sarawak Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu and Pelagus assemblyman Wilson Nyabong Ijang.

The late Pawa passed away at 9.55am on Sunday, at the age of 76. The funeral service and burial are scheduled this Wednesday.
