SERIAN: Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) teams dominated the Mixed Gender (Government/Agencies) category at the Serian Rafting Challenge Festival 2024, securing a total of RM3,600 in prize money.
The UNIMAS Extreme Explorer Team took the top spot, earning RM1,500 and a trophy.
The UNIMAS Development Team followed closely behind in second place, winning RM1,200 and a trophy.
The UNIMAS Three Plus One Team claimed third place, securing RM900 and a trophy.
Meanwhile, FSW-Kuching placed fourth and received a consolation prize of RM250.
Consolation prizes were also awarded to teams that finished between fifth and tenth.
In addition to the Mixed Gender category, PMKKBBS 2 team won the ‘Most Attractive Raft’ award, securing RM250.
OHS Motor Sdn Bhd continued their winning streak, successfully defending their titles in both the Youth Open and Men’s Open categories for the third and second consecutive years, respectively.
The 25-kilometre rafting competition, which started at Kampung Tema Mawang in Tebedu and concluded at Kampung Tebakang Dayak in Serian, was officiated by Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem.
The Serian Rafting Challenge 2024 featured five main categories: Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Youth Open, Mixed Gender (Government/Agencies), and Mixed Gender (Hotel and Tour Agencies).
Riot expressed his gratitude to the 114 participating teams for taking part in the 12th edition of the event.
Organised by the Serian District Council (MDS), the festival also offered various other activities, including the Ratu Bilanting pageant, stage performances, traditional games and a night bazaar.
