SIBU (Oct 14): The recently upgraded car park project of the Pasar Tamu in Sibu Jaya here is set to provide greater convenience for the public.
In stating this, Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai said the upgrading project, costing RM238,280, was completed last week.
“It involved the re-tar-sealing of the parking area covering 3,693 square meters as well as the repainting of the parking bays.
“This project was funded by the federal Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) upon the council’s request to re-tar the parking bays next to the ‘tamu’ (farmers and jungle produce market),” he said.
Sempurai said this when met by reporters after leading SRDC councillors on a visit to the site of the upgraded parking bay project.
Moreover, he expressed his gratitude towards KPKT for approving the request.
“I hope the upgraded car park will be more convenient for ‘tamu’ traders and patrons,” he added.
