Van driver gets death sentence for murdering two women

SIBU: A van driver has been sentenced to death by the High Court here on Friday (May 10) after he was found guilty of murdering two Indonesian women.

Judge Wong Siong Tung also sentenced Ahmad Robin, 32, to six strokes of the cane and 15 years' jail for voluntarily causing hurt to another victim.

Ahmad, 32, who was working as a driver for the plantation, was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murdering the two Indonesian women, Pandang Sarang and Muli Laha.

On the first charge, Ahmad was accused of murdering Pandang at around 11am at an oil palm plantation in Daro on Feb 11, 2022.

On the second charge, he was accused of murdering Muli at another oil palm plantation in Daro at around 11pm the same day.

The bodies of the two women were discovered at RC Dermaga, Sungai Samong in Daro on Feb 12 and 14, respectively.

Ahmad was also charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, for voluntarily causing hurt to another Indonesian, Tene, at about 11am on Feb 11, 2022.

He was arrested on Jalan Sentral Daro at 3.30pm on Feb 12, 2022.

Justice Wong said the accused exhibited clear intent to kill all three victims.

Ahmad was ferrying the three victims from the oil palm plantation to Daro town when he committed the crimes

DPP Mark Kenneth Neto prosecuted the case while the accused was represented by Ben Lau.
