SIBU (Sept 14): The 4th edition of the WatchMoviesNot Film Festival (WMNFF) is set to take place at the University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) here from Sept 20 to 22.
Sibu Film Art Association, in a statement, said the event has entered its fourth edition and this year it carries the theme of ‘Windows of the Soul’.
“This year’s theme ‘Windows of the Soul’ invites us to look through the ‘eyes of the soul’ and let films open the window to our hearts.
“With this new venue (UTS), the festival aims to welcome more film lovers from all over Sarawak to gather and connect through the magic of cinema.”
The 4th WMNFF features five curated films – Sarawak Shorts, Director-In-Focus: Ann Hui, Asian Vision, Surprise Screening, and Surprise.
There will be a total of eight screenings, featuring 12 short films and six feature films.
Additionally, some sessions will offer a question and answer session with filmmakers after film screening via online connections, said the association.
To further bridge the gap between films and audiences, the festival will also host an exhibition and five sessions of Filmmakers’ Talk, showcasing the behind-the-scenes features of film productions.
The much-anticipated Microwave Artisan Market Only (Mamo), a local artisan market, will also be at the festival, bringing together artisanal brands and handmade products to offer festival-goers a fresh cultural experience.
“WMNFF is an annual gathering designed to unite film audiences and revive film culture in Sarawak, and we hope that this year’s festival will once again provide an exciting cinematic weekend for all film lovers and continue to open the windows of our hearts,” said the association.
