KUCHING, Jan 28: The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that Year 1 student registration for the 2027 academic calendar will be conducted online from Feb 15 to March 31, 2026.
The registration can be done through the Ministry of Education Integrated System (MOEIS) at https://idme.moe.gov.my.
In a statement today, MOE stated that registration is open to Malaysian children in the six-year-old (5+) and seven-year-old (6+) cohorts.
Children eligible for the six-year-old (5+) cohort are those born between Jan 2 and Dec 31, 2021, while the seven-year-old (6+) cohort includes children born between Jan 2, 2020 and Jan 1, 2021.
This follows the government’s decision to allow six-year-old children to enter Year 1 voluntarily from 2027, without the need to sit for a screening test.
Parents and guardians are encouraged to register an account in the Identity Management System (idMe), update personal details, and submit their applications via MOEIS within the specified registration period to ensure the process runs smoothly.
Additional information is available through the official MOE portal, the State Education Departments (JPN), or the District Education Offices (PPD).
MOE emphasised that the initiative to encourage six-year-old children to enrol in Year 1 is part of the Madani government’s progressive efforts to support early childhood development, promote the well-being of children, and ensure that they do not fall behind in their education. — DayakDaily
