KUCHING, May 29: A total of 63 sacrificial cows have been distributed throughout the Petra Jaya parliamentary constituency in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, reflecting the spirit of sacrifice while fostering unity and mutual support within the community.
According to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Amar Fadillah Yusof, the sacrificial animals are being distributed in stages and the programme is expected to be completed by tomorrow (May 30).
“This is an annual programme carried out through gotong-royong activities at mosques, surau and by Village Security and Development Committees (JKKKs).
“The objective is to strengthen ties among the community, assist those in need, and cultivate the spirit of sacrifice in our daily lives,” he told reporters after officiating the Korban meat distribution programme at Surau Darul Ehsan in Kampung Sinjan here today.
The Petra Jaya MP said the practice of korban embodies the values demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim and Prophet Ismail, serving as an important lesson on faith, commitment and selflessness.
“This is the spirit of Korban that we want to nurture. Success cannot be achieved without sacrifice,” he said.
He added that the annual initiative remains an important platform for strengthening community bonds and promoting social well-being among residents in Petra Jaya. — DayakDaily
