KUCHING (July 25): The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) closely collaborated with the Kuala Lumpur and Selangor Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KLSCCCI) during their recent working visit to Sarawak.
ACCCIS in a statement today said upon their arrival at Kuching International Airport, the KLSCCCI members were warmly welcomed by ACCCIS president Kong Chiong Ung.
The welcoming party included ACCCIS vice presidents Dato Tan Jit Kee and Datuk Wee Kok Hui, secretary-general Dato Jonathan Chai, as well as council members Kuek Eng Mong, Dennis Chin Ching Chung, Fam Khing Foh, Ho Siew Hua and Bong Fook Kin.
“Led by Tan Sri Datuk Teo Chiang Kok, vice president and adviser of the Finance and Capital Market Committee of KLSCCCI, the 20-member delegation was on a four-day visit to Kuching to explore investment and business opportunities in Sarawak.
“The visit included courtesy meetings with key government officials, facilitated by ACCCIS,” it said.
ACCCIS said the delegation comprised mainly professionals from the financial sector, including investment banks, venture capital firms, brokers, investors and financial advisors.
They met with Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian following the networking lunch.
ACCCIS added the delegation also visited InvestSarawak, where they were welcomed by its chief executive officer Timothy Ong.
“On the second day of their visit, the delegation, accompanied by ACCCIS president Kong Chiong Ung, deputy secretary-general Andy Yek Hock Siang, and Public Relations and Tourism Committee chairman Kuek Eng Mong, visited Deputy State Secretary Datu Hii Chang Kee, and Sarawak Economic Planning Unit director Datu Lester Matthew.
“The day concluded with a visit to SiliconNet Technology Sdn Bhd, with the delegation later exploring various tourist attractions in Kuching.”
Meanwhile, ACCCIS also said Dr Sim, Hii and various department heads expressed strong support for the delegation’s visit and encouraged both domestic and foreign investors to consider Sarawak for business opportunities.
ACCCIS said they highlighted Sarawak’s political stability, rich natural resources and favourable investment climate.
“With recent advancements in the digital economy and green energy sectors, Sarawak offers promising prospects in infrastructure, tourism, agriculture, oil and gas, and high-tech industries.
“ACCCIS anticipates that this visit will enhance business cooperation and lead to new collaborative projects, aiming to help Sarawak advance towards its goal of becoming a high-income economy by 2030, ensuring a prosperous future for its residents.”
